OUR AMBITIOUS NEW PROJECT!<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>As La Dauphinelle celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022, a second shelter will be created: Maison d\u2019\u00c9velyn. Scheduled to open in 2026, this facility will have 14 transitional and secure housing units and will provide a continuum of services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence following a stay in first-stage housing.<\/p>\n

HOUSING, SUPPORT AND

Each year, 42 women and children will live in one of the 14 accommodations adapted for small and large families. Four of these apartments will be accessible to people with reduced mobility.<\/p>\n
\n- 4 single-bedroom housing units that can accommodate 1 woman and 1 child<\/li>\n
- 6 two-bedroom housing units that are spacious enough for 1 woman and 2 children<\/li>\n
- 4 three-bedroom housing units that can accommodate 1 woman and 4 children<\/li>\n
- 4 community rooms (playrooms for children and teenagers, kitchen, multipurpose room) to promote community life and break families\u2019 isolation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
A team of psychosocial workers and educators will be dedicated to La Maison d’\u00c9velyn. Residents will have access to all of La Dauphinelle\u2019s services.<\/p>\n
A DIRE SITUATION AND AN URGENT NEED FOR A SOLUTION<\/h3>\n
In Montreal, 75% of women are denied access to second-stage shelters<\/strong>due to a lack of space. With the tragic wave of feminicides hitting the province, our project aims to reduce the risk of murder by a spouse or an ex-spouse by offering a safe transitional shelter to women most at risk of spousal homicide.
\nThe success rate of La Dauphinelle\u2019s second-stage apartments has been proven: 99% of women leave for independent housing after passing through our second-stage shelter, whereas nearly 1 in 10 women return to their spouse after a stay in a first-stage shelter.

A devoted member of the Board of Directors and a passionate volunteer at La Dauphinelle for many years, \u00c9velyn was committed to improving the outcomes for women who are victims of domestic abuse. She was a model, a pillar, a beacon, and an exceptional woman who touched the hearts of those around her. In her memory and to highlight her commitment to the organization, La Dauphinelle founded La Maison d’\u00c9velyn and hopes that all who stay there will be empowered by \u00c9velyn\u2019s strength, courage and perseverance to break their cycle of intimate partner violence.<\/p>\n
